"I surrendered myself wholly and completely" to her strong, knowing fingers, allowed them to probe and explore, to slide across chemo-smooth skin looking for the telltale knots and kinks resulting from a year of unanticipated stress. Here was a woman who knew what to look for and I mouthed an easy aah, audibly relieved. Unlike most every massage spa I've ever visited, this one was clearly different. Instead of the dark, smoky, musty claustrophobic dens of many Eastern massage houses with choking incense covering everything including the camel dung, or the sterile, ultra-bright hospital style clean rooms of Scandinavian mode, here was an airy, inviting, roomy studio reminiscent of elegant Japanese shibui crossed with clean California design. There was no angst on entry. Keisher invited us in and we were encouraged to relax, select a tea and sit back in large padded chairs to complete the necessary paperwork prior to our massages. Upon completion and a quick review we were led to our individual rooms where the real work was done, Keisher for me and Robert for Judy. Now anyone that knows me understands that I'm not the easiest person to unwind. Once my emotions and stress have balled themselves into a taut and tough titanium-hard shell, it takes a lot of work to loosen the bonds to expose the sweet. Keisher made it easy. The soft sounds, delicate scents, warm lighting, clean décor and Keisher's nimble yet incredibly strong fingers unlocked the knots and life had meaning again. This was Judy's first massage, her initiation in the ancient art of body relaxation and she wears her feelings across her face. So the great big smile and sparkling eyes told me exactly how she felt. And as for me? Keisher loaded my calendar with future visits.

There are places you go and think, this fits me and what I'm looking for. I have been into tarot readings (and massages) for a long, long time. As the time has passed, most tarot readings have become more entertainment than anything enlightening, but I always enjoy it and don't know that I'll ever stop going. I once even had my palm read by a elderly Irish woman in the streets of a small town in Ireland and couldn't understand a thing she said! But, I'm side tracking. So, on goes my continuous hunt to find a decent tarot reader. Through Ellen Griley's write up about Everyday Zen in The District, I found a new spot and, after weeks of deliberation, booked an appointment. I had to cancel my massage appointment due to scheduling conflicts, but had my tarot reading. Keicher was warm and pleasant upon arrival. She lovingly made me tea and offered a lovely spread of additives for me to choose from while she tended to wrapping up another client. Just before she walked in I thought, "I hope we can do the reading on the floor". She promptly walked in and asked if I minded doing the reading on the floor. Connection. Nice. My reading was relaxed, open and interesting. It was more of a dialogue, and less of the typical "you're going to fall in love, have kids and be happy forever" kind of crap I so typically hear. I'm sure that Keicher spent far more than the allotted time with me, and gave me a 20% discount, and took time out to chat with me and share photos and lovely stories about herself. It was like meeting up with a friend. It was great. Even though I wasn't able to keep my massage appointment, she made a note that I'll still get to use the promo 20% discount for being a first timer. I can't wait to get a massage and will probably be scheduling it very soon with all my stress. The studio is an amazing space and just being there made me envious of a woman who is achieving her dreams. Very empowering.

Love, love, love this place! It's now my go-to spot for regular massages. I used to go to Burke Williams, but realized the novelty of the jacuzzi wore off after a few times. Now I can pay less and focus on what I really want- better quality massages. Plus, Keicher makes you feel at home, like you've known her forever. And though I haven't had a chance to check out her workshops, I love that her studio focuses on mind, body, and soul and has various events to nurture you inside and out. Absolutely a breathe of fresh air... Michelle Q | January 5, 2010

What a pleasant surprise to have found this gem!!!! I have been in search of someone who can do magic with my brows!! And after reading yelp and looking at Everyday Zen's website, I made an appointment. I was able to get in with Jeremy. I walked in to this studio and smiled to myself. The place is inviting, warm, sun-lit and very relaxing. Keicher and Jeremy both welcomed me with a lovely smile! Jeremy then led me to the waiting/tea room and asked me if I cared for tea..Tangerine ginger please. He then asked me a bit about my background to get to know me..which I love..I love the personal touches. Now on to the brows..he first assessed my brows and asked what I want done and then gave his recommendation..which was to clean up and give it some shape but not overdo it. Perfect!!! He took his sweet time, waxing, tweezing and cleaning up my brows.. They look wonderful and really frames my face. I appreciated the care and time he put into my brows.. And I love the reasonable price for brow waxing - $15. A great deal for personal touches. I'm excited and cannot wait to come back for a massage and facial. I can only imagine how heavenly it must feel to the massage and facial if I felt so good and relaxed after a brow wax...

fantastic relaxation spa space! WendiR | September 23, 2009

Found the Zen Relaxation Studio on a friends referral. What a find! It's a peaceful, modern space with good vibes and great tea! Keicher is a master at making one feel welcome and at home. She happens to be the best massuse ever! Very talented at undoing all those knots and tight stress points. Every detail is taken into account, from the music, room temperature, privacy, fragrance (or not), great cup of tea, it's all wonderful! You leave feeling pampered and relaxed! Just what we need in our busy lives!

Ever since my dentist introduced me to Keicher (pronounced KEE-sher), the massage therapist who runs the studio across the way from her dental office, I've been wanting to check it out. The promotion for 20% off your first service this month was also an incentive. So after a long week of work, I decided to call up to see if there was any last minute availability, and lucky for me, there was. Keicher was so accommodating to take me at the last minute. When I first got there, Keicher remembered me from when my dentist introduced me to her, and gave me a big hug. She had me change into a robe and slippers, and I put my stuff in a locker. Then she let me take my time to relax in the tea room, where there is a vast array of teas to choose from, and she offered me various reading materials. I think what's great about this studio is that it's a smaller space, which means that is has a welcoming, homey feel unlike larger studios. As far as I know, Keicher is the sole massage therapist and she also has someone who does facials. So let me get to the massage. Keicher has the most amazing healing hands. I chose the 90-minute Swedish massage, and from the beginning, she was very attentive to my preferences, asking if I wanted the music on or off or at a lower volume, etc. During the massage, she really took the time to work out the kinks and responded well to my body. She knew exactly where to put pressure on my muscles. Plus, I love scalp massages, but find that too often they just aren't satisfying because the person doesn't do it properly. But Keicher's scalp massage was perfect- will have to ask her to focus more on that next time! I highly recommend this studio. Plus, if you go this month, in addition to the 20% off your first service, there is a separate promotion for a $55 facial and $55 massage if you get both together, an hour each. Her prices are reasonable, normal hour Swedish is $70, 90 min is $105. I'm not sure what her facial prices are like. I swear, I have no financial incentive to promote this studio- I just think it's rare to find a place that's so warm and promotes total well-being, where the therapist really cares, and is skilled technically in performing quality massages.

I recently visited Everyday Zen for the purpose of having my eyebrows "groomed." The studio is located in a fairly generic-looking office building that in NO WAY gives any indication of the beauty and tranquility inside the studio. The studio is AMAZING! Keicher (the owner) has set up the various rooms so that each one is unique and perfectly suited to its purpose. I'm not sure where she found all of the great furniture, but the pieces are all unique and beautiful. They really have to be seen to be fully appreciated. My brow shaping with Marja was first-rate. As a male, I don't want my brows to ever look SO shaped that they're feminine. Marja did a great job of cleaning them up without me being afraid to grab a beer at Alex's with my friends right after... The unexpected (and most impactful) part of my experience occurred after the brows. Keicher did a tarot card reading with me. (My first ever). I began the reading as an open-minded skeptic. By the end, regardless of the reason, I was left with some valuable insights and a sense of empowerment I had not felt before the experience. Thank you so much Marja and Keicher. I WILL be back!
